The Restoration Principle

The Restoration Principle ©

Dr. Gregory based the NUCCA procedure on the “restoration principal©”. What this means is that the NUCCA protocols have been designed to objectively measure the deviations of the body from normal symmetry and optimal balance. These protocols are designed to measure these deviations objectively using pre-x-ray, postural evaluation and supine leg check to determine the presence or absence of the Atlas Subluxation Complex (ASC) Syndrome.  The deviation of the physical body from normal balance causes structural and other physiological stress in our human relationship to gravity. This includes an abnormal center of movement as a default way of being in relationship to the environment.

When the ASC is present, the NUCCA corrective protocols are designed to “restore” normal balance and symmetry”. For many people, their symptoms are not driven by a disease process but by a dysfunction in their normal physiology. It’s not pathology but pathophysiology that is the key ingredient to the production of their health challenge. This has been demonstrated countless times over many decades in a variety of NUCCA clinics. It has also been scrutinized in our clinical studies and case series. When the objective measurements are taken following the precise NUCCA restoration of alignment of the upper cervical spine, the entire body restores natural balance and symmetry in relationship to gravity. From this balanced place, natural balanced movement patterns follow. Over time, the body will re-stabilize and function in a more effective way.

The critical importance of the neurology in the upper cervical spine as well as the structural relationship that allows optimal flow patterns of cerebral spinal fluid and the vascular system, make this part of the human anatomy so important. The clinically observed improvements in human function following this gentle and precise intervention clearly state the importance of its care. Only recently has technology enabled us to understand even more about the physiological mechanisms that explain these symptomatic changes.

It is truly an example of where “structure influences function”.

Most healthcare practices focus on symptom reduction as compared to enhanced physiological optimization. Respecting the innate capacity of the human body to restore harmony and health within its systems, optimizing the anatomical relationship of the cervical spine is showing to be a key ingredient in restoring and maintaining structural integrity, physiological function and neurological improvement.

The Upper Cervical Research Foundation (UCRF) is dedicated to accessing the latest technologies to image, measure and study the dynamic physiological changes in regards to the ASC and continues its research mandate of understanding the impact of an optimal correction of the ASC and its implications on human health.
